I've learned in my 8th grade history class that OK was the abbreviation for Ol' Kinderhook, or Martin van Burin. His presidential campaign was "OK is okay."
The actual term "okay" came from and is used by many languages -->

Oll Korrect
Old Kinderhook
Old Kaintuck
Choctaw: okeh
Wolof: waw-kay
French: "Au quai"
WWII War Time: "0 Killed , (Zero Killed)"

these are other terms that I have heard it used for.
Thanks Mr. Dickinson!
