gifting vs. giving a gift

  • July 13, 2020, 6:00pm

The use of gifting is totally wrong and shows complete ignorance. A gift is a thing (a noun.) Giving shows action (a verb.)

There is no reason to use gifting when giving is the proper terminology.
Why are we changing the English language for the sake of change and not changing the English language out of necessity when the current usage is confusing or inadequate.
These incorrect usages often happen out of ignorance and not for any other valid reason. Another example is the term "woke." (I was asleep but now I am woke."
What we are seeing is nothing more than illiteracy and ignorance in action. The illiterate and the ignorant need to learn instead of the English language changing to accomidate ignorance.
